5 practical ways to prevent malaria at home
7 Hills Health Editorial Team · May 12, 2026
Malaria remains one of the most common reasons Ugandan families visit a clinic, but much of it is preventable at home. Sleep under a treated mosquito net every night, not just during the rainy season. Clear standing water around your compound weekly — even small puddles in tyres or containers are enough for mosquitoes to breed. Use window and door screens where you can, and consider indoor residual spraying if it's available in your area. If anyone in the household develops a fever, get a malaria test promptly rather than guessing — early treatment prevents complications.
